Wanderers Supporting 2024 Play Safe Campaign
Bolton Wanderers and Bolton Wanderers in the Community are proud to backing the Play Safe campaign ahead of Saturday’s League One fixture against Huddersfield Town.
Play Safe is national FA-led initiative that raises awareness on the importance of safeguarding within football.
Play Safe is run in partnership with the NSPCC and has the full backing of the Premier League and EFL, as well as the Women’s Super League and Women’s Championship. It is also supported and being run across every other level of the game.
The dedicated Play Safe Weekend takes place at the end of September, the weekend of 28/29th, with Wanderers using this high-profile clash against Huddersfield as the home fixture to raise awareness of the campaign.
The focus of this year’s campaign surrounds ‘Everyone, Everywhere, Every Time’, creating awareness on the role and responsibilities of all in involved in football in regard to safeguarding.
Whether you are a parent/carer, manager, coach, player, staff member, referee or supporter – you have a vital role to play. By following the key concepts of ‘Watch, Listen, Talk, Act’, you can help to create an ever-safer culture across the sport of football.
Phil Mason, Chief Operating Officer at Bolton Wanderers, CEO of Bolton Wanderers in the Community and Senior Safeguarding Manager at Wanderers, said: “At Bolton Wanderers, we are dedicated to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of every person who engages with the football club – from children and young people through to our players, staff and adult supporters.
“We aim to make every touch point of our club to be a safe and welcoming environment – whether that be on home matchdays, to the activity we deliver across the town through Bolton Wanderers in the Community, to the day-to-day operations across all departments of BWFC.
“We are one club, one community and one town – and our priority is to ensure that Bolton Wanderers remains a safe place for all.
“This weekend, we are delighted to be showing our support for the Play Safe campaign, hoping that it will raise awareness of a vital topic within the game we all love.”
