Santa Dash: Festive Fundraisers’ Inaugural Success!

Thank You Dashers!

We would like to say a huge thank you and a Merry Christmas to all the dashers who took part in our first ever Santa Dash at the University of Bolton Stadium.

The day turned out to be a great success and despite the cold and wet winter conditions this didn’t dampen the spirits of any of our Santa’s. BWFC mascot, Lofty the Lion, started the Santa Dash where we saw Neil Hart (CEO), Ian Evatt (first team manager) and Phil Mason (BWitC CEO) join around 80 Santa’s of all ages ‘dashing’ their way 1 mile around the perimeter of the University of Bolton Stadium.

Phil Mason, BWitC CEO & Club Chaplain praised the family friendly event saying:

“It was great to see all those who came to support the Santa Dash on Saturday. I want to say a big thank you to all who braved the freezing temperatures to take part and support the work of Bolton Wanderers in the Community and help with the warm spaces initiative in Bolton. A special thank you to our first team manager Ian Evatt and CEO Neil Hart for taking part and leading the charge in promoting our work as a Club in the community.”

After the event, dashers were given complimentary tickets, medals and selection boxes which were kindly donated by local superstore, Gee Tee’s in Westhoughton. Christmas then came early for participants as they were able to cheer on the whites to a 2-0 victory against Exeter City.

The money raised from the Santa Dash will be invested into our ‘Warm Spaces’. These are local hubs in which the more vulnerable in our community can visit to keep warm over the winter. One of these hubs is the newly established Sutton Centre, a community hot spot which allows BWitC to widen its area of delivery and create a more accessible option for those who struggle to reach the stadium.

So far over £1200 has been raised, but we aren’t done yet. If you would like to donate, please follow the link: BWFC Santa Dash – JustGiving
