Pre-Match Tackling Cancer Awareness Event with Bolton Wanderers in the Community

Saturday 15th March, Bolton Wanderers in the Community (BWitC) will host their Tackling Cancer Awareness Event in the Wellbeing Hub, supported by Vital Energi. Wanderers fans and passers-by alike are welcome to join us in the Wellbeing Hub to speak with a host of support services providing advice and information to increase early diagnosis of cancer across our town.

The event, hosted in BWitC’s Wellbeing Hub before BWFC take on Stockport County, brings together a range of services and professionals for anyone wanting support and advice on early cancer diagnosis as well as health checks and screenings. The organisations involved include Bolton Wanderers in the Community, Bolton GP Federation, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.

Running from 10:00am-12:00pm, the event will be delivered alongside the charity’s usual pre-match offer, with Bolton Wanderers in the Community providing free, family friendly activities and refreshments.

Head of Community, Richard Slater, said: “Using the power of our football club to bring people together we hope this event has helped reach people who hadn’t previously thought about cancer diagnosis. Providing opportunities for information and advice we hope to increase the understanding of the importance of early diagnosis which will benefit our wider community. Thank you to our partner organisations who are working with us across this project to help improve early diagnosis rates across our town.”
