Huge Success for Third Annual Community Iftar
Over 230 people gathered in the Lion of Vienna Suite at the Toughsheet Community Stadium On Monday 17th March for the third annual Bolton Wanderers in the Community Iftar.
Ran as part of our Premier League Fans Fund programme in partnership with BSCA and Mylahore the event brought together BWFC Supporters, members of our Bolton Community and local charities and organisation to celebrate the spirit of Ramadan and the positive impact we can have when our community comes together.
Attended by Joint Interim Club CEOs Phil Mason and Niaz Shazad, Mayor of Bolton, Andrew Morgan, Mayoress of Bolton, Karen Holdsworth and Imam Imran Hussein, our event invited attendees to take part in Iftar, the daily fast-breaking evening meal observed by Muslims during Ramadan.
During the event, there was a Quran recitation from Imam Imran Hussein – a graduate of Al Azhar University in Cairo – as well as speeches from Phil and Niaz. In addition, pupils from St. Michael’s Church of England Primary School in Bolton took to the stage for their musical performance before Imam Imran Hussein led the group in a call to prayer.
After breaking the fast, guests were invited to observe the Maghrib Prayer, before enjoying a delicious buffet provided by Mylahore. Guests were invited to enjoy a feast of Meat, Chicken or Vegetarian Curry, samosas, Seekh Kebabs, Naan, Pilau Rice before enjoying Jam Coconut Cake with Custard and Chocolate Cake for dessert.
Cormac Noel, BWitC’s Community Cohesion Officer, reflected on the event “Events like our Community Iftar show the positive impact we can have when our community comes together. We would like to thank Shabnum, Niaz, Phil, Mylahore and the BSCA for coming together to help support the run up to the event. We believe in One Club, One Community, One Town and these events showcase how our club and community can come together to make this a reality.”
Alongside all those who attended and contributed to the event, Bolton Wanderers in the Community would like to thank Shabnum Bashir for all her hard work planning and delivering the event, as well as Bolton Solidarity Community Association. With your support we are able to make our Iftar the best it can be.
