BWitC Host Future Lionesses Talent Event
This week Bolton Wanderers in the Community were selected to host a Future Lionesses Talent Event, on behalf of the EFL Trust.
Over 40 girls from across the North West made the trip to the Eddie Davies Academy for the afternoon to take part in the event, consisting of 5 different training drills.
Selected by their local coaches, girls from age 13 to 16 engaged in Goalkeeper focused, attacking and finishing, pressing with purpose, possession based practice workshops and 3v3 games, delivered by Bolton Wanderers in the Community Coaches and Project Officers.
Also in attendance were three England FA Talent Reporters who were on site to scout players with potential to enter into the England Lioness pathway, who may one day go on to represent their country.
Jemma Entwistle, FA Regional Talent Manager said: “I feel the girls have really enjoyed the event, there’s been some really good and different sessions going on.
“There’s been opportunities to play with different people, be challenged against different age groups and obviously the opportunity for the FA to come down and watch which has hopefully been exciting for the participants.
“I think they’ve got a lot out of working with the different coaches.”
Beth, aged 14 said: “I think it was a really good experience. Everyone was welcoming, really nice, the sessions were really good. It was a good day playing football.
Teammate Scarlett, 15, went on to say: “It was a very good opportunity, the organizers and coaches were very helpful in aiding us complete the different targets they wanted us to achieve.”
