Chairman’s Walk 2023
On Saturday 22nd April, over 30 walkers accompanied Bolton Wanderers Chairman Sharon Brittan on a 13-mile sponsored walk across Bolton. The route took walkers through various landmarks with historical significance to BWFC, such as the Burnden Park embankment and Nat Lofthouse’s public house.
Firstly, Bolton Wanderers in the Community would like to congratulate everyone who took part in 2023’s Chairman Walk and sincerely thank all those who donated. The total raised sits now at just over £11,000!
Points of interest on the 13.1-mile trek included historical milestones such as Turton Football Club, Bolton Castle Hotel (Nat Lofthouse’s public house), Bromwich Street (BWFC training ground used by Brazil in 1966), the Old Embankment end of Burnden Park, Bolton Museum, the University of Bolton (Christ Church Gardens – birthplace of Christ Church FC which later became BWFC), the Eddie Davies Academy and finally the University of Bolton Stadium.
“Thanks to everyone who’s taken part this morning. We’ve had a wonderful, wonderful day. 7 o’clock this morning when we all met it was absolutely pouring with rain, it was cold, but the positivity and the energy was utterly fabulous. It’s great to raise money for our wellbeing hub which we’re very proud of.” – Sharon Brittan, Bolton Wanderers Chairman
The support of Sharon Brittan will enable the charity to raise awareness and continue its work in creating sustainable pathways that transform lives. This year the main drive is the opening and renovation of the ‘Wellbeing Hub’ here at the stadium. The hub presents a fantastic opportunity for BWitC to expand its Health and Wellbeing engagement within the Bolton community both during the week, and on matchdays.
If you were unable to take part in the event, you’re still able to donate to the cause HERE.
