BWFC Charity Sleepout Raises £32,000!

Over £32,000 has been raised to date following the second ever BWFC Sleepout, hosted at the Toughsheet Community Stadium last Friday.

The fundraiser saw over 150 people consisting of club supporters, local businesses and business leaders including Wanderers CEO, Neil Hart and Bolton Wanderers in the Community (BWitC) CEO, Phil Mason sleep pitch side, braving the wind and rain to raise awareness and crucial funds for BWitC, Urban Outreach, Emmaus Bolton and Backup North West.

On the night, the CEOs from each charity alongside Wanderers CEO Neil Hart took part in a question-and-answer session with fundraisers on the night, as they provided an insight into the local need around homelessness and the work that is carried out across Bolton by each of the charities.

Speaking on the night, Phil Mason said:  “I’d like to thank each and every person who joined us in the event and thank everyone that supported through their donations. We saw an incredible response from the local community and businesses, which enabled the success of the event.

“The night and the conditions were a challenge, however it provided everyone with an understanding and insight into the reality of homelessness. This was our second BWFC Sleepout and it was truly encouraging to see the number of fundraisers and local people willing to support the cause double. It is something that I look forward to doing again next season.”

The total amount raised current stands at just over £32,000. You can still support the campaign through a donation HERE.

BWitC would like to thank all suppliers who supported with food, ingredients and disposables including Delifresh Ltd, Bidfood, Alliance, Urban Outreach, Greenhalgh’s Bakery and BWFC First Team Performance Chef James Berry for cooking over 150 meals for the fundraisers.

BWitC would also like to thank staff members Beth Warriner & Beth Finley for providing live music, alongside Lofty the Lion and Bolton FM for providing their support and services on the night.
