Bringing the Community Together for the Bolton Community 10K

Friday 29th November 2024, Bolton Wanderers in the Community (BWitC) along with some special guests attended Bolton Town Hall to discuss how the upcoming Bolton Community 10K and Family 2K will be working with local organisations to support our community. We would like to thank the Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham, Bolton Council CEO Sue Johnson, Councillor Nick Peel, Bolton CVS Chief Executive Dawn Yates-Obe, BWFC COO Phil Mason, and members of the Burnden Roadrunners who joined us to talk about why they are getting involved for 2025.

The Bolton Community 10K, first launched in 2024, looks to once again bring together both new and seasoned runners from across the Northwest. This year’s event promises to be even more impactful, with free charity spaces allocated for the Community 10K and free spaces still available for schools, charities and organisations for the Family 2K. These spaces offer an incredible opportunity for groups to raise much-needed funds to continue their vital work across Bolton.

Sunday 13th April 2025 will see both the Community 10K and Family 2K. Both events are designed to be inclusive aiming to empower people of all ages and fitness levels to lace up their trainers and get running for a good cause. Whether participants are seasoned runners aiming for a personal best or families looking for a fun day out, the Bolton Community 10K and Family 2K truly offer something for everyone.

Reflecting on the inaugural race, Mayor Andy Burnham shared his enthusiasm for the event, describing it as a unique celebration of unity and perseverance.

“I loved the first Bolton 10K. Obviously being at the home of the Wanderers and the club fully behind it,” Burnham said. “I love that part of it when you see all of the different people running for their different reasons, but everyone together. Sometimes these days we don’t come together, do we, in these big moments? But 10Ks are providing that these days.”

Burnham, an avid runner himself, urged people to seize the opportunity to join in, whether as participants, supporters, or volunteers. “Get involved,” he encouraged. “Let’s make 2025 a better year in Greater Manchester. I look forward to seeing you on the start line.”

The Bolton Community 10K and Family 2K will start and finish at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, the home of BWFC. Whether you’re running, cheering, or volunteering, this is an event not to be missed.
