Bring a Pound to the Ground Saturday 31st August
We’re calling on BWFC fans for their support this Saturday 31st August as we raise funds to support young people across Bolton. This Saturday’s match marks the first of our 3 Pound to the Ground fixtures asking fans to support our charity by bringing £1 to the game to help raise vital funds to support our Mentoring programmes here a BWitC.
By coming together as a club and fans we can make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable and high-risk young people across our community. Your £1 donation goes towards keeping our mentoring programmes running so we can provide emotional, health, and wellbeing support to young people aged 0-18.
Our main mentoring provisions run through our i-Thrive, Positive Chances, HEADSTART and Premier League Kicks sessions. i-Thrive provides 12-15 hours of support to 0-11 year olds whilst our Positive Chances provision provides services for 11-16 year olds. We also provide support through schools via our HEADSTART Programme which works to support year 6 pupils through their transition from Primary to Secondary School.
Last season Bolton Wanderers in the Community provided over 1,509 hours of mentoring across both 1-2-1 and classroom sessions. With young people across our services reporting improvements in:
Self confidence
Self-esteem
Resilience
Peer/teacher/parental relationships
Confidence
Individual coping mechanisms
Behaviour
At Bolton Wanderers in the Community, we’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact our mentors have. Coming from a range of professional backgrounds our mentors act as positive role models aiming to support young people in reaching their potential and living positive and happy lives.
