Bolton Wanderers in the Community Launch New Preventative Alternative Provision
Bolton Wanderers in the Community have just launched their new Alternative Provision service helping schools support Year 7 and 8 pupils who have been unable to successfully transition from primary to secondary school. With sessions commencing from January 2025 our Wanderers Goal Getters is an exciting new venture led by our Education team here at Bolton Wanderers in the Community.
Wanderers Goal Getters provides a new approach to AP taking a preventative approach to mentoring providing a safe environment within schools for students to develop healthy and respectful relationships with their school environment and their peers. Through our 12 week programme pupils will take part in our personal development qualification in partnership with the King’s Trust helping individuals to explore their future aspirations whilst developing self-esteem and increased resilience to help them make steps toward a positive future.
Our staff have a wealth of experience in the education system, mentoring, primary to secondary transition as well as working with challenging and demotivated young people. With their extensive experience and the additional partnership with the Prince’s Trust our provision aims to give young people the best step forward to a positive future.
Lisa Simpson, Education Manager at Bolton Wanderers in the Community, stated “This new approach to our Alternative Provision allows us to support pupils struggling in their school environment and turn this into a positive space for them to develop, providing them with the foundations to a positive future. By providing young people opportunities for personal development whilst gaining a qualification we aim to reshape the learning environment and leave pupils with a positive outlook on their school life.”
