Bolton Comes Together to Get Active | Bolton Community Run 2025
Sunday 13th April 2025, Bolton Wanderers in the Community welcomed 1,600 runners, joggers and walkers to the Toughsheet Community Stadium for the Bolton Community 10K and Family 2K Fun Run, sponsored by Vital Energi.
The closed road route starting and finishing at the Toughsheet Community Stadium encouraged participants from across the North West to walk, jog or run aiming to promote positive activity in our community. The introduction of the Bolton Family 2K Fun Run this year aligns with our charity’s aim of supporting our community to be more active whilst also echoing the missons of both Bolton Council’s ‘Let’s Keep Bolton Moving’ and Greater Manchester’s ‘Active Lives’ campaigns. Whether participants were running for their own personal goals or to raise funds for causes close to their hear, we hope events like these encourage positive activity across our town.
The Toughsheet Community Stadium was buzzing with excitement as over 400 children from ages 4 through to 16 took to the starting line at 8:45am for the first Bolton Community Family 2K Fun Run.
We then geared up for the start of the Bolton Community 10K in which 1,200 participants took to the starting line to run, jog or walk the route, starting from De Haviland Way up to the Retreat and then back to cross the finish line here at the home of BWFC.
Ben Lawton, Deputy CEO of Bolton Wanderers in the Community, expressed his gratitude for participants, stating, “The Bolton Community 10K is a testament to our charity’s commitment to providing positive opportunities for local residents. Using the power of our football club to bring people from across the North West together to promote positive physical activity is a testament to our ethos of One Club. One Community. One Town.”
The introduction of the Family 2K Fun Run shows our charity’s commitment to expanding and developing opportunities for our community. Promoting positive physical activity across all ages aligns with our mission to use the power of Bolton Wanderers Football Club to inspire, support and deliver positive change, creating sustainable pathways that transform lives.”
Following the event participants were invited pitch side with their medals to take photos together and celebrate achieving their goals. Injury Mechanics were situated on the concourse providing sports massages and injury prevention tips and tricks to all participants.
Through events like this Bolton Wanderers in the Community continues supporting the local community through the power of Bolton Wanderers Football Club.
