Bodvarsson & Toal visit Harper Green Changemakers
A group of female students from Harper Green School had a slightly different Tuesday afternoon this week as they were visited by Wanderers stars Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Eoin Toal.
The pair were invited down to meet the girls of Harper Green as they took part in the female leadership programme, PL Changemakers. After receiving questions from the pupils, Bodvarsson was kind enough to share his own outlook of staying positive and the practices he uses to navigate and overcome those inner battles. Toal also spoke on issues such adapting to a new life, moving from Northern Ireland to North West England, and the anxieties and obstacles that can come with change.
This is all part of a female leadership programme designed to support, inspire and empower girls & young women. The 12 core elements of the workshop delivery include mental health and wellbeing, self and identity, confidence and self-esteem, empowerment and leadership, resilience, role models and allyship, educational attainment, career development, social action, community, leadership and body image. Participants are enabled to achieve their potential and lead positive change in their communities, particularly in relation to gender equality and mental health.
Premier League Changemakers is a jointly funded project between the Premier League, Premier League Charitable Fund and Sports Relief, which has been developed to support girls and young women to develop their personal skills and positive attitudes for leadership. The project is delivered with support from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
