New Community Cohesion Project – BL One
The Charity is proud to unveil the new community cohesion project “BL One.”
Bolton Wanderers in the Community is excited to announce that they have received £270,000 for Cohesion project, BL One! This project will run for 3 years and will see lots of new provisions, including an LGBTQ+ Youth Club in partnership with Bolton Lads and Girls Club, a community football session, a female engagement session, Disability sports provisions and multiple initiatives and events for awareness days and inclusion campaigns.
Beth Warriner, Programme Lead (Equality, Diversity and Social Inclusion) said “We are thrilled to announce this new partnership in the form of BL One. Community cohesion is not about simply coexisting, but about actively coming together, embracing our differences, and building towards a common purpose and understanding.”
Also with this funding, BWitC is delivering an Intergenerational Project, which will see participants from BWitC’s Premier League Primary Stars (Pikes Lane Primary School) and Extra Time Hub grouped together to tackle possible stereotypes within the communities of Bolton, and encourage people of all backgrounds, beliefs and ages to work together in harmony.
For this project, students have been chosen from Pikes Lane Primary School who may struggle with forming new social relationships, struggle with self-esteem or have low attendance in school. The students are then grouped with Extra Time participants who may be socially isolated and wanting to make a difference within the community.
Over the course of 6 weeks, our group will take part in interactive and fun activities that are designed to promote communication, teamwork and most importantly community cohesion.
