Baxter and Johnston Surprise Community Captain!

Wanderers stars Nathan Baxter and George Johnston recently visited Bolton Arena to surprise Bolton Wanderers in the Community’s Community Captain, Callum Walsh, as recognition for their outstanding impact in the local community. Callum has been recognised as part of the Premier League’s More Than A Game campaign which is shining a light on the people making a positive difference in communities across England and Wales, thanks to Premier League investment.

Callum has been part of the delivery staff for the PL Kicks programme in Bolton with BWitC for 12 months now but was himself a participant of the project for some years before. Callum engages with over 1500 8 – 18 year olds across 32 sessions on an annual basis through the regular delivery of PL Kicks.

After chatting with Callum, George Johnston said: “There is such a strong sense of community here. Bolton is a club known not just in the area but nationally, so it’s good to bring it back and connect with people locally who are making a difference day-to-day.”

Premier League Kicks (PL Kicks) uses the power of football and sport to inspire young people to reach their potential, in some of the most high-need areas in England and Wales. Premier League funding enables 90 Premier League, English Football League and National League club charities to deliver free weekly football and multi-sport sessions, which have supported more than 500,000 young at almost 5,000 venues.

Bolton Wanderers in the Community first started delivering PL Kicks in 2007, working to support the local community and deliver Premier League funded programmes to support young people.

This forms part of the Premier League’s ongoing commitment to supporting all levels of football and communities.
