Wanderers Goal Getters is Bolton Wanderers in the Community’s alternative provision service providing a nurturing approach to cultivating the positive relationships needed to support young people to build confidence and self-esteem, improve resilience and raise aspirations. Our preventative service supports Year 7 and 8 pupils who struggled to make the transition from primary to secondary school successfully and consequently are left unable to access their education and/or general school life positively and effectively.
Unlike previous alternative provisions we provide a safe space for young people within their own school environment delivered by members of staff with a wealth of experience in the education system, mentoring, primary to secondary transition as well as working with challenging and demotivated young people.
Through our 12-week programme we will equip young people with the tools they need to tackle their education with a more positive, proactive and motivated attitude that will enable them to realise their potential. Pupils will leave the sessions with an increased resilience, having developed healthy, respectful and socially-positive relationships with those around them as well as exploring their aspirations and encouraging them to set targets for their future.
