Using the appeal of the Premier League and Bolton Wanderers Football Club to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills. It inspires girls and boys aged 5-11 in the classroom, the playground and on the sports field. Workshops include Lofty’s Literacy and Lofty’s Life Skills programmes.
Lofty’s Literacy is an inspiring 10-session reading intervention created to increase engagement and progress levels in reading for Year 5 and 6. It is aimed at pupils who need extra support in reading or are reluctant readers, but who love and are motivated by football. Lofty’s Literacy has been developed by the National Literacy Trust with teachers and authors to ensure it really works in schools.
Lofty’s Life Skills is an original 6 week programme developed by our staff at Bolton Wanderers in the Community, and has been created to assist with the teaching of PSHE to combat the issues the COVID-19 pandemic left behind. According to statistics, children in Bolton are struggling more with their self-esteem, resilience and attendance. Our workshop engages these children in a safe, supportive environment to talk about life skills in a fun and interactive way.
